Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the season-opening cup on fourteen different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille struck twice late to seize a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital leveler in the dying seconds to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
