The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change. Online Platforms Response Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping. The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces. It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance. Size Classification Changes Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10. With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. User Experiences One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does. Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained. Required Changes A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing". "For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained. Marketplace Information The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
